About Us

PSD was launched at the BTME exhibition in 2004 when our directors Chris Gibson and Stuart Mercer started looking for a service lift for the workshops of their dealership business GGM Group. Finding nothing suitable in the UK they contacted Scott Fore of Heftee Industries in Illinois, USA and after much discussion and a lot of hard work in the US to ensure the machines were CE compliant, we commenced distribution. Also, alongside this we offered a range of universal spare parts from American universal parts supplier STENS, which at the time was owned by Ariens Co of Brillion, Wisconsin.

Shortly after launch we were approached by Ariens to take on the distribution of their Gravely brand which they had decided to rebrand for Europe as Ariens Pro. As mowers were in our DNA, we decided despite many challenges to represent the brand across the UK, selling both commercial walk behind and zero turn ride-on mowers though a dealer network.

At the time the biggest resistance to zero turn mowers in the UK was stick steering and everyone was asking the question “when will someone make a machine with a steering wheel?” so when Chris visited Expo and saw the GIZMOW, a ZTR with a steering wheel he quickly agreed a deal with Jeff Huncilman of New Albany, Indiana to distribute this machine. After some initial success with the machine sadly the financial crash of 2008 saw the demise of Gizmow as Huncilman was forced to focus on its core automotive supply business. With this and Ariens subsequent purchase of Countax in the UK we decided we needed to seek new partners, ideally family owned with which to build long-term sustainable business partnerships.

We wanted to work with innovative companies across the Groundscare sector that manufactured quality products, that provided solutions to customers problems that were not offered by mainstream manufacturers. The selection of the right partners would ultimately prove to be a key element of the success of our business. This coupled with our passion to do our best for our customers, offering on-site demonstrations, genuine advice and preferring to walk away from a sale that offers an inappropriate solution for the customer have all helped us gain our reputation.

National Dealer Network

However, we understand that whatever Groundscare machine you purchase you will require parts and service and at some point repair, so with our business being part of a dealership group we firmly believe that the best place to receive this is through a reputable local dealership partner. They are well versed to offer similar advice to which we would offer were we present at the product presentation or demonstration.

After-Sales Support

From our base in Colne, Lancashire, we maintain a large stock of both new and demonstration machinery to support our dealers along with a large stockholding of spare parts. When service and technical assistance is required, we have an on-site and mobile service department that can back up our customers wherever they are.

Our Passion

All our team share our passion to excel in everything we do and provide an honest, fair, and reliable service to our customers.
