Overview
We are seeking a proactive, dedicated and skilled grounds person to join our growing team. This role is a supervisory role and you will be working alongside our team to maintain the outdoor communal areas of our properties across Kent. Most of our properties are in the Dartford and Medway areas but occasionally, you may be required to work in other parts of Kent. This role involves a variety of landscape maintenance, requiring a strong understanding of horticulture, gardening and maintenance services. The successful candidate will contribute to the upkeep and development of outdoor spaces, ensuring they are functional, aesthetically pleasing, and well-maintained. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in gardening, horticulture, or construction to apply their skills in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, hedge trimming, weeding to ensure a strong visual appeal.
- Operate various power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently for routine maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of tools, equipment, and work areas to uphold safety standards.
- Collaborate with team members on larger projects requiring horticultural expertise or specialised construction skills.
- Manage other grounds staff accordingly and ensure all grounds are maintained to a high standard.
- Other jobs may involve exterior painting and upkeep of grounds and gardens.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, gardening, or horticulture is essential.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely.
- Familiarity with maintenance procedures for gardening.
- Basic understanding of horticultural principles and plant care techniques.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately. Candidates should be physically fit, reliable, and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
