Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, applying a range of horticultural and maintenance skills to support our organisation’s landscape and infrastructure needs.
Duties
- Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to ensure healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate various power tools and hand tools such as trimmers, hedge cutters, and shovels to carry out routine groundskeeping activities.
- Maintain irrigation systems, inspecting for faults and making necessary repairs to ensure efficient water distribution.
- Use mechanical equipment such as excavators for larger landscaping or construction projects.
- Conduct general maintenance tasks including repairing fences, pathways, and other outdoor structures.
- Assist with construction projects related to outdoor spaces, ensuring safety standards are met throughout the process.
- Monitor the condition of grounds and report any hazards or issues requiring attention.
- Support seasonal planting and horticultural activities to enhance the visual appeal of outdoor areas.
Skills
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening, with a good understanding of horticulture principles.
- Mechanical knowledge related to gardening equipment and small machinery repairs.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment such as excavators.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their maintenance requirements.
- Strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety standards.
- Good teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in construction or groundskeeping are desirable but not essential. Pay: £24,420.00-£51,307.70 per year
