Driver / Garden Operative

L & J Outdoor Services is a professional, forward-thinking garden maintenance and landscaping company based in Brentwood, Essex. We provide high-quality horticultural and grounds maintenance services to residential and commercial clients across Essex and London.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Driver / Garden Operative to support daily operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone reliable, practical, and happy to work as part of a team under the direction of a site lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Driving company vehicles safely and responsibly between sites
- Assisting with routine and seasonal garden maintenance works
- Supporting the site lead with day-to-day tasks and job completion
- Carrying out tasks including mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, weeding, pruning, planting, and pressure washing
- Loading and unloading vans, ensuring tools and equipment are secure
- Maintaining cleanliness and basic care of vehicles, tools, and machinery
- Following all Health & Safety procedures and risk assessments
- Engaging professionally with clients when required
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (manual)
- Previous experience in garden maintenance or outdoor manual work
- Confidence driving vans and working across multiple sites
- Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
- Good attitude, team-focused, and willing to learn
- Fluent in English and well-presented
Desirable
- Experience using garden machinery (mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters)
- PA1 / PA6 spraying certification
- Basic horticultural knowledge or qualifications
Important Information
Working hours are generally start at 8am and finish between 4:00pm and 5:00pm, however flexibility is required to ensure work is completed properly and to a high standard.
This role involves working under the direction of a site lead and supporting the wider team. It is not a supervisory position.
