Role Summary
The Grounds & Maintenance Assistant will support the Head of Grounds & Maintenance in the day-to-day upkeep, presentation, and maintenance of the Clubhouse and its grounds.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone practical and proactive, who takes pride in maintaining high standards and contributing to a well-presented, high-quality facility.
Club Facilities Include:
- 6 red clay tennis courts
- 5 American clay tennis courts
- 3 artificial tennis courts
- 3 indoor tennis courts
- 5 squash courts
- 4 badminton courts
- A gym
- Clubhouse facilities
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining all grounds and facilities to a high standard, including:
- Tennis court maintenance (clay, artificial and indoor)
- General gardening and upkeep
- Leaf and snow clearing
- Waste management and litter control
- Support with planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the site
- Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance works as required
- Assist with cleaning operations to maintain excellent presentation standards
- Safely operate and maintain machinery in line with Health & Safety guidelines
- Support with contractor visits and onsite works when required
- Monitor and report maintenance issues to the Head of Grounds & Maintenance
- Help ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH
- Act as a key holder when required, including opening and closing the premises
- Provide support across the team during busy periods and staff absence
Person Specification
- Previous experience in a grounds, maintenance, or facilities role is desirable
- Interest in sports surface maintenance (training can be provided)
- Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Positive attitude and strong team player
- Reliable, organised and detail-oriented
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to working hours (primarily mornings, with some variation as required)
- Basic computer skills (email and simple record keeping)

Expected hours: 24.0 – 35.0 per week
