Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Gardener to join our 8 acre garden split between formal, informal gardens, paddocks and a small pond. We also keep chickens and bees. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are healthy, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a love for gardening and horticulture to develop their skills in landscape maintenance within a professional environment. The position is paid and suitable for those eager to contribute to the beauty of outdoor environments. Depending on the hours you can commit to depends on how many gardeners you will work with. Opportunity to extend to a longer term contract or to work here on a self employed basis if you have other commitments. Ideally you will have RHS level qual 2, and a spray certificate level PA1 / PA6.
Duties
- Planting, pruning, and cultivating a variety of plants, shrubs, and trees using hand tools and power tools.
- Installing and maintaining irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of all garden areas.
- Operating power tools such as lawnmowers, hedge trimmers, and leaf blowers to maintain landscape aesthetics.
- Maintaining garden equipment through regular cleaning and servicing.
- Monitoring plant health and identifying pests or diseases for appropriate action.
- Ensuring all outdoor spaces are safe, tidy, and compliant with health and safety standards.
- Assisting with composting
- Maintenance of driveways, patios and garden furniture.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance is highly desirable with a prefence of 3 years plus.
- Familiarity with hand tools such as secateurs, spades, and rakes.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems and their installation or repair is advantageous.
- Experience operating power tools safely within a garden setting.
- A genuine interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscape design.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
