The Role
We are seeking an experienced, hardworking, and reliable Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a variety of grounds maintenance tasks.
This is a physically demanding role that involves working outdoors throughout the year in all weather conditions. While much of the work is carried out as part of a team, you will occasionally be required to work independently and use your own initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Grass cutting using pedestrian/ride-on mowers and strimmers.
- Hedge cutting and shrub maintenance.
- Litter picking and general site upkeep.
- Weed control in planted and hard landscaped areas through hand weeding and the application of herbicides.
- Leaf clearance using a variety of blowers and vacuums.
- Sports pitches/tracks line marking.
- Pruning, vegetation clearance, and habitat management works.
- Operating wood chippers and other grounds maintenance machinery where trained and authorised.
- Assisting with arboricultural and tree surgery operations alongside our specialist tree teams.
- Winter gritting across the South Central region (additional payments apply).
- Maintaining equipment, machinery, and vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with Company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Representing the company professionally while working on client sites.

Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence (essential) Applicants who do not hold a full UK driving licence will not be considered for this position.
- At least 1 years previous grounds maintenance experience (essential) Applicants who do not have this as a minimum will not be considered for this position.
- Large ride-on mower experience.
- Ability to travel to various client sites across the region.
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Desirable Qualifications & Skills
The following qualifications and experience are advantageous and may attract an enhanced rate of pay:
- Skilled CSCS Card or LiSS/CSCS Card.
- NVQ in Horticulture, Landscaping, or a related discipline.
- PA1 and PA6 Pesticide Application Certificates.
- Trailer Towing Experience.
- Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting (CS30).
- Felling and Processing of Small Trees up to 380mm (CS31, CS37).
- Any additional horticultural, landscaping, arboricultural, or machinery-related qualifications.

Working Hours: (Summer) Monday to Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm, (Winter) Monday to Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm with overtime opportunities available throughout the year.
