Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of a growing grounds maintenance business specialising in residential and new-build developments. They are looking for a hands-on Team Leader to manage a portfolio of sites, lead an operative and maintain consistently high standards. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in their work, and wants to progress as the company expands.
About Our Client:
Our client is a well-established grounds maintenance business dedicated to maintaining communal areas across residential developments. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality services and fostering a trust-based working environment.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for maintaining communal areas across residential developments, including open spaces, verges, playground surroundings, and planted areas. Working alongside an assistant, you will take responsibility for the quality of your sites, manage your own company van and equipment, and communicate with Property Managers and residents where required.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and work alongside a Grounds Maintenance Operative.
• Manage and maintain a portfolio of sites.
• Ensure sites are completed to a consistently high standard.
• Grass cutting, strimming, and lawn maintenance.
• Hedge cutting and pruning.
• Bed preparation, restoration, and planting.
• Weed control and spraying.
• Leaf clearance and litter picking.
• Manage and maintain your company van, tools, and equipment.
• Communicate professionally with Property Managers and residents.
• Use battery-powered and standard grounds maintenance machinery.
Requirements:
Essential:
• Proven experience in grounds maintenance or horticulture.
• Previous experience leading a team or taking responsibility for other operatives.
• Good horticultural knowledge.
• Experience using commercial grounds maintenance machinery and equipment.
• Valid spraying qualification.
• Full clean UK Driving Licence.
• Previous experience driving vans.
• Ability to securely house the company van at home.
• Good level of physical fitness.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Confident communication skills.
Desirable:
• Experience maintaining new-build housing estates or residential developments.
• Experience using battery-powered commercial equipment.
• Additional horticultural or grounds maintenance qualifications.
