About
In my teens I wanted to work in horticulture and in 1986 I spent a summer working for the Royal Parks in London as part of the mobile gardening crew. I then did a Biology degree in the early 1990s. After graduating I spent just under a year working in a garden centre in London.
Then life took a different course and I ended up in PR, communications and social media. I was made redundant in 2020 because of Covid and had to go freelance. I also co-founded a business in 2024. I now realise that the business world is no longer for me and I have a strong urge to go back to my original passion, which is to work with plants.
I am enrolled on the RHS Level Two Certificate in Horticulture at Plumpton College. In addition, I worked for a Kent-based garden maintenance company over the summer of 2025 but unfortunately was laid off in early September as the company was experiencing financial difficulties. I am now working as a self-employed gardener but am on the lookout for a permanent opportunity in horticulture.
