We are looking for an enthusiastic Maintenance Technician to join our team helping us provide a first-class service for our students at our brand new purpose built student accommodation in Cambridge.

Role Overview:
Responsible for the day-to-day repairs service and caretaking services on site.
Oversee external contractors whilst they are on site, ensuring behaviour and work standards are high-quality working standards throughout.
Ensuring all our buildings are kept fully compliant by undertaking testing in line with current legislation.
Providing excellent customer service to our residents and ensuring the building clean and presentable at all times.

- This a multi skilled post that requires areas of: Painting & Decorating, Basic Plumbing, Wood working and Grounds maintenance
- Practical knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Working knowledge of COSHH
- Verbal and written communication
- Professional personal presentation
- Able to work accurately and effectively under pressure
- Continually strives to improve knowledge, skills and abilities to produce the best results
Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks:
- Supports the accommodation team in the provision of maintenance services to the property in a timely and safe manner
- Undertakes repairs and maintenance tasks competently with the skill set appropriate for the task in hand
- Performs routine compliance testing within the facility on a weekly basis to ensure key safety equipment is in good working order
- Recognises the residents need for confidentiality and respects the residents' own belongings while working within the property
- Oversees the work of contracted staff while on site
- Is effective in maintaining external areas as requested by the Facilities/Operations Manager
- Working safely and within your skills limit
- Maintains roads/paths and hard finishes are clean and free from rubbish and cigarette ends
- Removes rubbish / waste bins to designated areas for collection, actively working to recycle as much of the waste stream as possible
- Works in a safe manner using personal protective equipment as required, uses chemicals as directed, maintaining in a safe manner away from residents
- Ensures the safety of residents and facilities through the effective use of security equipment provided
- Maintains a vigilant presence while on duty, undertaking patrols and regular checks of the facility while carrying out other duties
- Attends to fire alarms, calling on assistance from emergency services as required
- Be on call to respond to emergencies, when required
- Maintains strict controls on hazardous materials, in storage and in use, and observes all COSHH regulations and manufacturer’s instructions
- Ensures that energy, resources and equipment are used in a correct, safe and economical manner in accordance with Company policies and legal requirements
- Support the Facilities/Operations Manager in the planning, organisation and execution of the summer turn, ensuring all rooms and areas are ready for the new intake of residents each September
- Manage workload in line with customer needs and management targets
- Assisting the Facilities Manager with routine safety inspections and reporting
- Costs are maintained in line with operational budgets and strives to continually look for ways to improve the service whilst maintaining cost
- Is effective in maintaining records of incidents and fire alarms, providing reports where required
- Conducts and records all statutory inspections and testing
- Records various meter readings as requested by the Facilities Manager
- Work as part of the team to ensure targets and Key Performance Indicators are met
