Role Summary: The Head of Grounds & Maintenance is responsible for maintaining the Clubhouse and it’s grounds. The Club has 4 lawn tennis courts, 8 artificial tennis courts, 3 indoor tennis courts, 2 padel tennis courts and 6 squash courts. This is a lone working role, however assistance will be obtained if required to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
The role will be responsible for the clubhouse, which includes managing a team of cleaners, repairing faults or working with contractors to maintain the facility.
Role Specification:
· Set, monitor and maintain quality and productivity of all facilities-related operations including cleaning, grounds, hospitality and H&S.
· Conduct regular appraisals and ensure appropriate training is identified and completed with the cleaning team.
· Ensure the grounds are kept to a high standard which includes; grass tennis court maintenance, artificial tennis court maintenance, indoor tennis court maintenance, leaf clearing, snow clearing and general gardening.
· Operate and maintain machinery in a safe and effective manner in accordance with the operators manual with due health and safety.
· Ensure cleaning rotas are completed and annual leave is covered.
· Fire warden duties which includes weekly alarm testing.
· Be a formal key holder for the club and open up and close down the premises when required.
· Take the initiative and generate activity to consistently achieve results.
· Operate a system of maintenance reporting, progression and visibility for both members and management, ensuring small and large requirements are completed appropriately.
· Put in place a programme of rolling Planned Preventative (and annual) Maintenance with sports area supervisors and strive to ensure the plan is appropriately costed.
· Ensure cleaning is performed to standard, is cost-effective and manage provision of equipment.
· Create strong relationships with contractors and suppliers, setting high standards for quality and productivity.
· Work with the General Manager to set budgets as required. Work to reduce costs where possible while maintaining quality of the facility.
· Ensure all health and safety aspects are up to date and responsibilities defined.
· Attend a monthly Management meeting and be a valuable asset to the management team.
· Any other reasonable task that may be required to ensure continued operation of the club.
Person Specification:
· Demonstrate knowledge and skill in facilities and ground management.
· Tennis court maintenance is desirable, however training can be given.
· Be an independent worker who demonstrate a positive outlook when working with contractors.
· Builds and enjoys good relationships with members and colleagues.
· Manages conflict well and keeps emotions under control in difficult situations.
· A natural and persistent eye for detail.
· Diligent, committed and ensures tasks are complete before leaving work.
· Accepts and tackles demanding goals with enthusiasm, maintaining a positive outlook.
· Be computer literate and have a basic knowledge of emails and excel.
· Shifts will be mainly weekday morning and afternoons, however remain flexible to work all hours depending on the business needs.
