Role Description
We are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative – Team Lead to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. This role involves working across multiple commercial and residential sites in and around the Tring area.
As Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading daily grounds maintenance operations, supervising a small team, and ensuring all sites are maintained to an exceptional standard. You will play a key role in preserving the appearance, safety, and functionality of our clients’ outdoor spaces.
Your responsibilities:
- Ensure all assigned sites are maintained to the highest standards, including (but not limited to):
- grass cutting and management, weed control, leaf clearance, hedge trimming, bed maintenance and planting, and basic tree works
- Lead, motivate, and manage your team to deliver quality results within agreed timescales
- Supervise team performance and provide guidance, support, and training to new and existing operatives
- Plan daily workloads and ensure teams are fully briefed, equipped, and compliant with PPE requirements
- Understand individual site and client requirements, communicating any issues or concerns to your Line Manager
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, colleagues, and management
- Maintain high standards of health and safety and comply with all company policies and procedures
- Ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are kept clean, well maintained, and fit for purpose, reporting faults or damage promptly
Our ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in grounds maintenance
- Previous experience leading or supervising a small maintenance team (preferred)
- A full UK driving licence
- A strong work ethic and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
- High attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- PA1 & PA6 pesticide certificates (advantageous but not essential)
- Trailer licence (advantageous but not essential)

Pay: £110.00-£130.00 per day
