Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor environments, ensuring the grounds are safe, attractive, and well-kept. This role offers an opportunity to work outdoors across various landscapes, utilising a range of tools and equipment to perform essential maintenance tasks.
Duties
- Conduct landscape maintenance including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal.
- Operate power tools such as trimmers, blowers, and lawnmowers and chainsaws if qualified safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools for planting, digging, trimming, and other gardening activities.
- Maintenance of machinery, carrying out servicing.
- Operate heavy machinery such as gritters and chippers when required.
- Perform routine inspections of grounds and equipment to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards.
- Carry out general maintenance tasks including debris removal
- Support horticultural activities by planting new flora and maintaining existing plantings. Opportunity to carry out work at double time (£25 per hour) when gritting duties are needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance or gardening is highly desirable.
- Mechanical knowledge related to the operation and basic repair of power tools and machinery.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment such as chippers.
- Knowledge of horticulture principles and gardening practices.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in maintaining grounds standards.
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in horticulture or related fields are advantageous.
