Glendale, a leading UK provider of grounds maintenance, landscaping, arboriculture, horticulture, and green space management services, is recruiting a Contract Supervisor – Grounds Maintenance to oversee multiple landscaping and grounds maintenance contracts across Somerset and Dorset.
This role is ideal for an experienced Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, Landscaping Supervisor, Horticulture Supervisor, Site Supervisor, or Team Leader looking to progress into contract management within the grounds maintenance, environmental services, or landscaping sector.
Grounds Maintenance Contract Supervisor – Role Overview
As Contract Supervisor, you will support the delivery of professional grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, and external environmental services across a portfolio of commercial and public sector contracts.
Key focus areas include:

Supervising grounds maintenance operatives, landscapers, gardeners, and horticultural teams

Managing multiple sites across Somerset & Dorset

Supporting contract performance, service delivery, and client satisfaction

Ensuring compliance with health & safety, environmental standards, and contract specifications

Maintaining high-quality landscaping, turf care, and green space maintenance standards
This is a hands-on operational supervisor role combining site visits, team leadership, client liaison, and contract support.
Key Responsibilities – Grounds Maintenance Supervisor

Supervise multiple grounds maintenance and landscaping contracts

Oversee services including grass cutting, hedge cutting, planting, soft landscaping, weed control, and horticultural maintenance

Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification

Monitor productivity, KPIs, quality standards, and compliance
-
Conduct regular site inspections and client meetings
-
Support recruitment, training, and development of grounds staff
-
Maintain excellent client relationships across commercial and local authority contracts

Identify opportunities for additional landscaping or maintenance works

Support seasonal programmes including winter maintenance and summer grounds care
Candidate Profile – Grounds Maintenance / Landscaping Supervisor
We are interested in candidates with experience in:

Grounds maintenance supervision or landscaping supervision

Horticulture, gardening, estate maintenance, or environmental services
-
Contract supervision within landscaping or green space maintenance
-
Managing mobile teams or multi-site operations
Essential:

Experience supervising grounds maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture teams

Strong organisational and people management skills

Ability to manage multiple sites and priorities

Good communication and client-facing confidence

Full UK driving licence (role includes travel)
Desirable:

Horticulture, landscaping, or environmental qualification

PA1/PA6 spraying certificates or similar industry tickets

Experience with local authority or commercial landscaping contracts

IT skills for reporting and contract administration
