Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of our client, a prestigious private estate near Bearsted, Kent. They are seeking an enthusiastic Head Greenkeeper/Greenkeeper to join their team.
About Our Client:
Our client is a private estate with a newly constructed 5-hole golf course and a vineyard. The estate boasts a fantastic working environment, new facilities, and well-maintained machinery. The owner is known for being flexible and supportive, making this a unique and rewarding place to work.
About the Role:
As the Head Greenkeeper/Greenkeeper, you will be responsible for the presentation, maintenance, and development of the golf course. This hands-on role requires a blend of technical knowledge and practical ability, working closely with the Estate Manager to deliver excellence in course conditioning and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Plan, coordinate, and undertake all golf course maintenance and development work.
• Manage course presentation, ensuring consistently high-quality playing surfaces.
• Communicate effectively with the Estate Manager to build understanding of course management decisions.
• Develop and implement sustainable turf management and environmental practices.
• Possess sound knowledge of turf diseases, weeds, pests, and control methods.
• Maintain and operate machinery safely; oversee servicing and repairs.
• Assist the grounds team with wider estate maintenance, including mowing, strimming, and cleaning patios and roof tiles.
Requirements:
Essential:
• Minimum NVQ Level 2 in Greenkeeping.
• PA1 and PA6 spraying certificates.
• Proven experience in greenkeeping and sports turf maintenance.
• Ability to handle a physically demanding role with extensive manual labour.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Full Clean UK Driving Licence.
Desirable:
• NVQ Level 3 in Greenkeeping.
• Understanding of GEO, biodiversity, ecology, and sustainable maintenance techniques.
