Responsible for:Contract Operations and all Grounds maintenance operatives
Purpose of Role
To be responsible for operatives on a daily basis, ensuring all teams are effectively supervised, organised and motivated to deliver operations in full compliance with safety, quality and environmental standards, while achieving customer satisfaction, productivity and financial targets.
Generic Responsibilities
- Safety, Environment & Quality (ISO)
- Promote and maintain a positive safety culture where everyone works efficiently and safely, minimising risks and injuries.
- Champion a Zero Injury culture across all operations.
- Enforce zero tolerance for non-compliant working practices.
- Deliver Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality improvements in line with ISO standards and company procedures as directed by your line manager.
- Ensure all near misses and hazards are reported promptly and removed from the working environment.
- Comply with internal and external audits and close out actions within agreed timescales.
- Set and maintain high behavioural standards and continuously reinforce them across teams.
- Operations, Planning & Resource Management
- Monitor and manage PPM (Pre-Planned Maintenance) schedules, ensuring works are delivered within agreed timeframes and return tickets are closed promptly upon task completion.
- Plan PPM works in consideration of weather conditions and operational constraints to maintain productivity and service levels.
- Monitor site standards and reallocate labour, plant and resources where reduced productivity is experienced due to weather, machinery downtime or other unforeseen circumstances.
- Manage RWR (Reactive Work Requests), planning and implementing ad-hoc works immediately upon receipt.
- Ensure all variable orders are quoted accurately and in a timely manner, and schedule works efficiently upon receipt of official order confirmation.
- Deliver all core and variable works to agreed programmes, ensuring “right first time” performance to maximise company reputation and efficiency.
- Supervise, organise, equip and motivate operatives and subcontractors to deliver productive and profitable work in line with operational plans.
- Ensure all works are carried out to the required standard, specification and within agreed timescales.
- An element of practical work on the tools is expected when required.
Finance & Commercial Management
- Complete and submit weekly timesheets, plant and vehicle returns accurately and on time.
- Actively manage and quote variable orders in a timely manner to support revenue generation.
- Make recommendations on cost efficiencies and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain proactive, professional internal and external customer relationships, projecting a positive company image at all times.
- Attend and represent the company at formal contract meetings daily.
- Conduct regular client audits across various aspects of the contract to ensure compliance and service excellence.
- Maintain daily communication with clients, keeping them fully informed of work progress, programme updates and any operational issues.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints in line with company procedures.
- Demonstrate strong problem solving capability to address unexpected issues and minimise disruption to service delivery.
- Monitor attendace, competency and performance of staff, implementing controls and development plans as required.
- Take responsibility for continuous personal development and that of the team.
- Embrace competency development in line with company and contractual requirements.
Training / Skill Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ Chargehand or Supervisory experience.
- NVQ Level 2 or higher (or equivalent)
