Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance & Grounds Person to oversee and perform a wide range of groundskeeping, maintenance, and construction tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, horticultural expertise, and proficiency with various tools and machinery. This role involves maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functional integrity of outdoor spaces, ensuring safety standards are met, and supporting ongoing landscaping and construction projects. The position offers an opportunity to utilise specialised skills in a dynamic environment dedicated to high standards of grounds management and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct landscape maintenance activities including mowing, pruning, planting, and fertilising to ensure healthy growth and visual appeal.
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, power tools, and irrigation systems for construction, repair, and landscaping purposes.
- React quickly and professionally to issues raised by office staff, holiday home owners or guests
- Perform routine maintenance on groundskeeping equipment and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Assist with construction projects involving site preparation, fencing, or structural repairs as required.
- Carry out gardening duties including planting new flora, mulching, weeding, and soil management.
- Maintain safety standards by inspecting equipment and work areas regularly; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Support team members with specialised tasks requiring horticultural or mechanical expertise; provide guidance where necessary.
Skills
- Significant experience within a holiday park, leisure park, caravan park or similar seasonal environment.
- Proven experience repairing & siting of caravans.
- Strong understanding of grounds management and site presentation standards.
- Experience organising workloads in a busy, customer-focused setting
- Mechanical knowledge related to the operation and maintenance of power tools, hand tools, excavators, and irrigation systems.
- Ability to perform general maintenance tasks including repairs to groundskeeping equipment or structural elements.
- Familiarity with construction practices relevant to outdoor environments such as fencing or site groundwork.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Physical fitness suitable for manual labour involving lifting, bending, digging, and operating machinery safely.
