About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Grounds Maintenance Contract Manager to lead and oversee a portfolio of contracts across Surrey and London. This is a key leadership role responsible for operational performance, client relationships, and business growth within a dynamic and evolving environment.
This is a varied role split between the yard, office, and sites. The successful candidate will be expected to be present at the yard during key operational times (such as when teams are dispatching and returning), with flexibility to plan the remainder of their time between site visits and office-based work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the delivery of multiple grounds maintenance contracts
- Ensure all services are delivered efficiently, safely, and to a high standard
- Take full accountability for contract performance, structure, and resourcing
Health, Safety & Environment
- Promote and maintain a strong health, safety, and environmental culture
- Ensure full compliance with legislation, company policies, and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement in safety standards and environmental impact
Strategy & Growth
- Develop and implement contract strategies and annual business plans
- Monitor performance using KPIs and data-driven insights
- Identify opportunities for contract growth and operational efficiencies
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and partners
- Act as a key representative of the business, promoting service excellence
- Ensure customer satisfaction and continuous service improvement
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
- Ensure contracts are properly resourced with skilled personnel
- Foster a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement
Financial Performance
- Manage budgets to meet profit and cash targets
- Drive commercial performance and cost efficiencies
- Ensure accurate reporting and financial control
About You
We are looking for a confident and commercially astute professional with:
- Extensive experience in grounds maintenance or related sectors
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Proven experience managing multi-site or multi-contract operations
- Excellent stakeholder and client relationship management abilities
- Commercial and financial awareness
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
- IT proficiency (Microsoft Office, scheduling systems, etc.)
Qualifications
- Relevant management and/or horticultural qualifications
- Health & Safety certification (IOSH / NEBOSH preferred)
