Position: Senior Groundsperson
Location: Enfield Crematorium
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week - Includes Saturday working depending on business need
Salary: £33,000 per annum

We are seeking a Senior Groundsperson to join our team at Enfield Crematorium, where you will play a key role in leading the delivery of exceptional grounds standards across our landscaped gardens and memorial areas.
The Role
As a Senior Groundsperson you will be accountable for overall site standards, team performance, and the delivery of grounds-specific projects. The Senior Groundsperson ensures that every visitor experiences a peaceful, dignified, and immaculately maintained environment, while supporting and developing team members to meet operational, safety, and service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a full range of grounds maintenance duties including mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, hedge cutting, and seasonal landscaping.
- Oversee implementation of seasonal planting schemes, landscape improvements and grounds-specific projects.
- Carry out inspections of memorial areas and new placements to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Line manage the grounds team, providing regular check‑ins, clear expectations, coaching, and support with performance and development
- Manage stock control, materials and equipment responsibly to minimise waste and unnecessary costs.
- Support site events such as remembrance services, open days and community activities.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has strong horticultural or grounds maintenance experience.
- A confident and supportive team leader who can motivate others.
- Takes pride in delivering exceptional presentation standards.
- Is highly organised, proactive, and able to manage workloads effectively.
- Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Understands the sensitivity of working in a bereavement environment.
- Holds a full UK driving licence (desirable).
