Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Team Leader to oversee a two-person vegetation maintenance team covering Surrey and Kent. This is an excellent chance to join a well-established business with the potential to secure a permanent position.
About Our Client
Our client has over 40 years of experience delivering vegetation management, grounds maintenance, and highways services across the South East. Working with local authorities, commercial organisations, and public sector clients, they are recognised for delivering safe, reliable, and professional vegetation maintenance services across public rights of way, highways, and green spaces.
About the Role
As Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a two-person vegetation maintenance team carrying out clearance and maintenance works across Surrey and Kent. You will be provided with a company van which you can take home each evening, removing the need to report to the depot every day.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise a two-person vegetation maintenance team.
• Drive the company vehicle between sites.
• Collect your team member from the Dorking area each morning.
• Carry out vegetation clearance, grass cutting, and general grounds maintenance.
• Operate pedestrian grounds maintenance equipment, including strimmers, brush cutters, and hedge cutters.
• Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Complete daily vehicle and equipment checks.
• Follow health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Liaise professionally with supervisors, clients, and members of the public where required.
• Report any defects, hazards, or issues promptly.
Skills and Experience
Essential
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Previous experience in vegetation management, grounds maintenance, or highways maintenance.
• Experience leading or supervising a small team, or the confidence to step into a leadership role.
• Experience operating pedestrian grounds maintenance machinery.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Reliable, organised, and able to work independently.
• Good communication skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Desirable
• LANTRA qualifications.
• CSCS Card.
• ROLO certification.
• Strimmer and Brush Cutter certification.
• Previous experience working on Public Rights of Way or Local Authority contracts.

• Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:00pm, with an early finish at 3:00pm every Friday.
