Driver / Garden Operative

L & J Outdoor Services is a professional, forward-thinking garden maintenance and landscaping company based in Brentwood, Essex. We provide high-quality horticultural and grounds maintenance services to residential and commercial clients across Essex and London.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Driver / Garden Operative to support daily operations. This is a hands-on role suited to someone reliable, practical, and happy to work as part of a team under the direction of a site lead.

Key Responsibilities

Driving company vehicles safely and responsibly between sites
Assisting with routine and seasonal garden maintenance works
Supporting the site lead with day-to-day tasks and job completion
Carrying out tasks including mowing, strimming, hedge cutting, weeding, pruning, planting, and pressure washing
Loading and unloading vans, ensuring tools and equipment are secure
Maintaining cleanliness and basic care of vehicles, tools, and machinery
Following all Health & Safety procedures and risk assessments
Engaging professionally with clients when required

Essential Requirements

Full UK driving licence (manual)
Previous experience in garden maintenance or outdoor manual work
Confidence driving vans and working across multiple sites
Physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and able to follow instructions
Good attitude, team-focused, and willing to learn
Fluent in English and well-presented

Desirable

Experience using garden machinery (mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters)
PA1 / PA6 spraying certification
Basic horticultural knowledge or qualifications

Important Information

Working hours are generally start at 8am and finish between 4:00pm and 5:00pm, however flexibility is required to ensure work is completed properly and to a high standard.

This role involves working under the direction of a site lead and supporting the wider team. It is not a supervisory position.
