At CPS Grounds Ltd, we’re looking for a Grounds Maintenance Team Leader to lead from the front and inspire excellence in our daily grounds operations.
You’ll manage a team of operatives and help deliver top-quality grounds maintenance to schools, sports fields, hotels, leisure centres, and commercial grounds in the Bristol, Bath, Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas.
The Role
As a Team Leader, you'll:
- Supervise day-to-day maintenance across multiple client sites
- Deliver services to high standards in line with contract specifications
- Operate equipment including mowers, strimmers, hedge cutters, and sprayers
- Support, motivate, and manage a small team of Grounds Operatives
- Coordinate site inspections, annual leave requests, and resourcing
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Represent CPS Grounds professionally with clients and customers
- Report to the Operations Manager and collaborate with supervisors and coordinators
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain lawns, sports fields, hedges, and shrub borders
- Use and maintain grounds maintenance machinery
- Complete service reports, timesheets, and equipment checks
- Build strong relationships with clients and external agencies
- Identify staff training needs and communicate them to management
- Proactively seek additional work opportunities on-site
- Attend team meetings and contribute to project planning
- Respond promptly to client requests and feedback
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on grounds maintenance experience (gardening, landscaping, horticulture)
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Great attention to detail and a focus on high standards
- Customer service excellence and team spirit
- Physically fit and capable of outdoor work in all seasons
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to pass an enhanced DBS check
Desirable Skills
- PA1 & PA6 Spraying certificates (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with sports turf care, pitch marking, or artificial turf
- Familiarity with tractors, sit-on mowers, and gang mowers
- Basic first aid or Health & Safety training
- Supervisory or site management experience
- Horticultural or technical qualifications
Working Hours
- Winter: 7:00am – 3:00pm (Mon–Fri)
- Summer: 7:00am – 4:00pm (Mon–Fri)
