Gardener – Sevenoaks School
Salary: £29,540 per year
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 08:00–16:00)
Location: Sevenoaks, Kent

Are you a qualified horticulturist with an eye for detail and a love for maintaining beautiful, historic landscapes? Sevenoaks School is looking for an experienced and self-motivated Gardener to join our dedicated Estates team.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll help maintain and develop the school's stunning gardens and grounds, ensuring they remain a source of pride and enjoyment for our students, staff, and visitors all year round.
What you'll be doing
As part of our gardens team, you'll take part in all aspects of landscape and grounds care, including:
- Planting, pruning, and maintaining trees, shrubs, hedges, and herbaceous borders
- Lawn care and maintenance using pedestrian and ride-on mowers
- Keeping pathways and outdoor spaces clean, tidy, and safe
- Assisting with pond, fence, wall, and patio maintenance
- Helping the Grounds team with the upkeep of sports facilities when required
- Supporting seasonal tasks such as snow clearing and gritting
You'll report to the Head of Garden and work closely with a friendly team who share your passion for horticulture and high standards.
About you
We're looking for someone who is:
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Horticulture (or equivalent)
- Experienced in maintaining large or historical gardens
- In possession of a full UK driving license
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage time efficiently
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and handling machinery such as mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters
Previous experience in a school setting is beneficial but not essential, what matters most is your professionalism, enthusiasm, and pride in your work.
