Location: Cambridge
Salary: Up to £29,000 - £30,000 per annum DOE
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of our client, a prestigious educational institution in Cambridge, seeking a proactive and skilled Grounds person to join their team.
About Our Client:
Our client is a renowned educational institution operating across multiple sites in Cambridge. They are committed to continuous improvement and development, ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils, staff, and visitors. The Grounds and Gardens department is responsible for the maintenance of 76 acres of grounds, including sports fields and gardens.
About the Role:
As a Grounds Person, you will be responsible for the upkeep of both hard and soft areas of the grounds. Your role will ensure that sports pitches are safe and well-maintained, and that all areas are aesthetically pleasing. You will also assist the Gardens team as needed, contributing to the overall beauty and functionality of the grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain sports turf, including cutting, rolling, strimming, scarifying, aerating, watering, seeding, and top dressing.
• Assist with planting, weeding, pruning, and watering in the gardens.
• Mark out pitches and set up goals, nets, and boundary markers.
• Prepare, maintain, and renovate cricket pitches.
• Maintain paths, borders, hedges, and roadways.
• Clear snow and ice from pathways and apply gritting and salt as needed.
• Perform minor machinery maintenance and maintain artificial surfaces.
• Keep records up to date as required.
Requirements:
Essential:
• Proven experience in groundskeeping or a related field.
• Knowledge of sports pitch maintenance, preferably cricket and football pitches.
• Honest and reliable with excellent timekeeping.
• Self-motivated with the ability to use your own initiative.
• Flexibility regarding working hours to complete essential tasks.
Desirable:
• Trade relevant NVQ or similar qualification.
• Experience in contractor supervision.
• Understanding of health and safety best practices, including COSHH and manual handling.
