Overview
We are seeking a motivated and energetic Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are safe, attractive, and well-kept. Duties
- Perform lawn care activities including mowing, edging, aerating, and fertilizing to promote healthy turf growth.
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks such as planting, pruning, tree trimming, shrubbery care, and flower bed upkeep.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely for tasks like hedge trimming, soil digging, and landscape installation.
- Maintain hardscape features including pathways, patios, retaining walls, and other outdoor structures through cleaning and minor repairs.
- Implement irrigation systems maintenance to ensure efficient watering of landscapes.
- Assist with construction projects related to outdoor improvements or site upgrades as needed.
- Conduct regular inspections of grounds to identify hazards or areas requiring attention.
- Support tree care activities including planting, pruning, and removal under supervision.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling equipment and performing maintenance tasks to ensure a secure work environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated mechanical knowledge with experience operating landscaping machinery and hand tools.
- Strong lawn care skills with a solid understanding of turf management practices.
- Knowledge of landscape maintenance techniques including gardening, horticulture principles, and hardscape upkeep.
- Experience with landscaping projects involving planting, pruning, tree care, and soil preparation.
- Ability to operate power tools such as trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and other gardening equipment safely.
- Familiarity with excavation equipment like excavators for site preparation or landscaping projects.
- Basic understanding of irrigation systems installation and maintenance is preferred.
- Physical stamina to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to lift heavy objects when necessary.
