
Sports Pitch Construction/Hybrid Pitch Stitching Subcontractor
Location: UK-wide (regular travel and working away from home required)

Working hours - from £25 per hour

waiting time - £22 per hour (maximum 8 hours per day – e.g. weather delays, breakdowns, client delays)

£41 daily meal allowance on UK projects
Hours: 12-hour shifts, up to 7 days per week including both day & night shifts (project based)
Contract: Subcontractor

About the Role
We are recruiting hard-working subcontractors to support specialist hybrid sports pitch stitching projects across the UK. This is a physically demanding, hands-on role working with specialist machinery on professional sports pitches and stadiums.
No previous stitching experience is required - full training will be provided.

Our client is a specialist in hybrid pitch stitching, delivering projects at professional football, rugby, and sports venues across the UK. They offer a supportive working environment, structured training, and strong earning potential during their peak season (typically April to September).
Key Responsibilities -

Assist with and operate specialist hybrid pitch stitching machinery

Carry out manual labour including sweeping, site preparation, and bobbin preparation

Support machine operation, including monitoring generators and fuel levels
-
Basic fault finding, bobbin changes, needle changes, and laser adjustments

Complete hand stitching where required

Accurately complete daily work and site reports

Work closely with the team to ensure projects are completed efficiently

Assist with basic grounds duties where experienced (e.g. Dennis mower operation)
Progression -
Subcontractors who develop into confident machine operators, capable of running a machine independently and carrying out repairs, can negotiate higher hourly rates.
Further progression is available for project lead roles and long-term operators. Rates are reviewed on an individual, merit-based basis.
Operators are fully supported, with access to experienced mechanics and a network of senior operators for technical guidance when required.
Requirements
Essential:

Ability to work 12-hour shifts, up to 7 days per week, for the duration of projects

Comfortable working in a physically demanding, outdoor environment

Willingness to travel across the UK and stay away from home during projects

Good level of spoken and written English

Mechanically minded with attention to detail

Able to work effectively as part of a small, close-knit team

Flexible attitude to day and night shifts

Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:

Experience in sports turf, groundsmanship, construction, landscaping, or similar

Mechanical, engineering, plant, or electrical background

Experience operating machinery or technical equipment

Basic fault-finding or maintenance skills
