About the Role:
As a Groundsperson, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient maintenance and development of all sports playing surfaces, their structures, and associated areas. Your role is crucial in providing safe, consistent, and high-quality playing surfaces for pupils, staff, and visitors. Additionally, you will be involved in the general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare all grass and artificial surfaces to the highest standards, including mowing, marking out, aeration, and renovation.
• Undertake general maintenance and development of landscaped and garden areas.
• Drive tractors with various implements for grass maintenance and renovation.
• Manage common fine turf and horticultural pests and diseases with appropriate treatments.
• Handle tree and shrub maintenance using hedge cutters and other hand-held machines.
• Ensure safety during icy/snowy weather by salting/gritting paths, steps, slopes, and car parks.
Requirements:
Essential -
• Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a related field.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Good general level of education (GCSE or equivalent).
• Ability to follow safe working practices and procedures.
Desirable -
• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Grounds Maintenance or Horticulture.
• PA1/PA2/PA6, First Aid, and Chainsaw qualifications.
• Experience with tree work and the use of machinery.
