Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Senior Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture and landscape maintenance, demonstrating expertise in both practical gardening techniques and the management of garden projects. This role requires a hands-on approach, utilising various tools and equipment to ensure the upkeep and enhancement of our green spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out skilled horticultural tasks including planting, pruning, lawn care, pest/disease control, soil management, and seasonal work.
- Maintain borders, lawns, trees, shrubs, and glasshouse/greenhouse plants where applicable.
- Operate and maintain gardening machinery and tools safely.
- Lead by example, providing instruction and support to gardeners, trainees, or apprentices.
- Assist in planning and implementing new planting schemes, landscaping projects, and improvements.
- Monitor plant health and implement appropriate treatments.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, including the correct use of PPE (e.g., safety boots, gloves, eye protection).
- Coordinate daily work schedules, ensuring tasks are completed to deadlines and standards.
- Communicate with management or clients about progress, needs, and seasonal plans.
- Maintain records of work, plant inventories, and chemical use .
Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience in horticulture, ideally in a senior or supervisory gardening role.
- Recognized horticultural qualification (e.g., RHS Level 2/3 or equivalent) desirable.
- Strong plant knowledge (ornamental , lawns, trees, and shrubs).
- Ability to lead, motivate, and train a team.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Competence with a wide range of garden machinery and tools.
- Full valid and clean UK driving licence is a must .

Working Conditions

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £28,000.00-£31,000.00 per year

- Gardening: 2 years (required)
