Job Title: Maintenance Manager - Immediate Start
Reporting To: General Manager
42. 5 hours per week, working flexibly to cover weekends and out-of-hours if necessary.

About the Role
As our Maintenance Manager you will take the lead in maintaining the care home’s facilities to the highest standards. From hands-on repairs to overseeing contractors and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, this is a varied and rewarding role with real purpose.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading and delivering day-to-day maintenance tasks across the home, including plumbing, decorating, tiling, and general repairs.
- Conducting Fire Risk Assessments and maintaining fire safety plans and records
- Supervising contractors and maintenance staff, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Managing tools, equipment, and materials, including stock control and procurement.
- Responding to emergency call-outs.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal policies
- Liaising with Home Managers, Nurses, and residents to coordinate access and minimise disruption.
What We are Looking For:
We are seeking someone who is:
- Experienced in property/grounds maintenance, preferably of old buildings and care homes
- Knowledgeable in Health & Safety practices, including risk assessments and safe working procedures
- Skilled in a wide range of maintenance tasks (e.g. plumbing, decorating, repairs)
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- A confident communicator with a friendly and professional approach
- Flexible and reliable, with a willingness to respond to urgent issues when needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in a senior or supervisory maintenance role
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
- Ability to complete Walden Care's Induction Programme within 3 months of joining
- Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential)
