JOB SPECIFICATION:
An exciting, full-time gardening role has arisen at a private Country House in Mid Sussex, to work as part of a small Estate-wide team.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will suit a hands-on and passionate Gardener with proven experience in maintaining formal gardens to a high standard. Care of the garden will be the daily focus. The formal gardens surround the main house and are made up of multiple areas that include traditional lawns, perennial borders, a Mediterranean courtyard and a walled garden with raised beds, fruit cages, a pergola walkway and a glasshouse.
Along with tending the gardens, where good plant knowledge is required, the role may include occasional assistance with the care of hedges, waterways and woodlands on the wider estate, alongside other team members.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A broad knowledge of garden and landscape maintenance, ideally on a private estate, historic or botanical garden setting
- An RHS Level 2 or above qualification is preferred
- Practical work experience in a professional horticultural environment
- An ability to use a range of garden machinery and carry out basic maintenance
- A self-motivated individual who can work alone or in small teams.
- Your own transport will be required due to the rural location.
- Integrity and discretion are a must as well as good time management
- Certificates in the use of knapsack sprayers (PA1 & PA6A) and chainsaw (CS30.1 & CS30.2) would be an advantage but are not essential
SALARY:
A competitive salary is offered, commensurate with experience.
