Position: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Location: Sussex – Covering Worthing, Brighton, Lewes, Eastbourne, Haywards Heath, Crawley & East Grinstead
Salary: £12.50 - £13.50 per hour
Please note - You must have a valid UK Driving Licence and able to obtain a DBS to be considered for this position.

Are you an experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative looking for a role with independence, variety, and a structured working day? Chappell Enterprises UK is recruiting on behalf of our client for a mobile grounds maintenance position covering high-profile sites across Sussex.
About the Role
This role involves maintaining police and ambulance stations, ensuring these important locations remain in top condition. You'll be working independently most of the time, traveling between sites in a company-provided van, with working hours paid from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mowing with pedestrian and stand-on "zero-turn" mowers
- Hedge cutting, strimming, and general grounds maintenance
- Driving between locations – no depot, start and finish from home
- Using hand tools and powered equipment to maintain high standards
Requirements:
- Grounds maintenance experience – you need to be confident working alone
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass a police vetting check
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to manage your own workload
