Looking to use your greenkeeping or fine turf experience without the early starts and weekend work that often come with the industry?
Lawn Tiger is looking for an experienced Senior Lawn Technician to join its growing, family-run lawn care business in Horley.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a greenkeeping, sports turf, fine turf or professional lawn care background who wants a well-paid Monday-to-Friday role, greater independence and the opportunity to become an important part of a business that is investing in its future.
You will manage your own daily schedule, visit regular customers and use your turf knowledge to diagnose problems, carry out treatments and complete lawn renovations using professional machinery including scarifiers, aerators and overseeders.
And with no weekend work, a company van and fuel card for commuting, private healthcare, bonus and commission opportunities and additional time off over Christmas, there is a strong overall package alongside the £33,000–£38,000 salary.
About Lawn Tiger
Lawn Tiger is an award-winning, family-run professional lawn care company based in Horley, Surrey.
Since 2017, the business has built its reputation around quality, care and integrity, providing specialist lawn treatments and renovation services to a growing portfolio of residential customers.
This is still a close-knit business where people know one another and individual contribution matters. The team currently operates three vans and looks after around 500 customers, with plans to grow towards six vans and approximately 1,000 customers.
That growth creates genuine opportunities for people who want to develop, take on more responsibility and build a long-term career with the company.
Just as importantly, Lawn Tiger believes in doing the right thing for its customers. Many have been with the business for years, so being approachable, considerate and trustworthy is every bit as important as technical ability.
The role
As Senior Lawn Technician, you will work independently across customers within the Horley area, taking responsibility for the condition, treatment and improvement of their lawns.
You will typically visit multiple properties each day, returning to many customers throughout the year and building strong long-term relationships with them.
The position combines fine turf knowledge, practical lawn treatments, machinery operation, diagnostics and customer service, so it would particularly suit an experienced Greenkeeper or turf professional looking to transfer their skills into specialist lawn care.
What you'll be doing
- Carrying out seasonal lawn treatments including fertilising, weed and moss control
- Completing lawn renovations including scarifying, aeration, overseeding and top dressing
- Operating professional lawn care machinery safely and confidently
- Assessing turf condition and diagnosing lawn problems
- Recommending appropriate treatment and renovation programmes
- Providing customers with clear updates and after-service reports
- Quoting and recommending additional services where appropriate
- Managing your own weekly schedule and working independently in the field
- Building trusted relationships with regular customers
- Representing Lawn Tiger with professionalism, care and integrity
What we're looking for
- Experience within greenkeeping, fine turf, sports turf or professional lawn care
- Good practical understanding of turf health, maintenance and renovation
- Confidence using scarifiers, aerators, overseeders, spreaders, sprayers and mowers
- PA1 and PA6 certification
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work independently
- Friendly, professional and considerate approach with customers
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out a practical outdoor role
- Full clean UK driving licence
- A strong work ethic and pride in doing a job properly
Trailer experience would be beneficial, although training can be provided if required.
Why join Lawn Tiger?
A strong salary for your turf experience
With a salary of £33,000–£38,000, plus bonus and commission opportunities, your existing knowledge and experience will be properly valued.
Monday to Friday – with no weekend work
For someone coming from golf, sports turf or another environment involving very early mornings and regular weekend work, this offers a different working pattern. You will normally leave home at approximately 7:30am, reach your first customer around 8:00am and aim to be home by 5:00pm.
Company van and fuel included
A company van and fuel card are provided for work and commuting, reducing the cost of getting to and from work. You will need suitable parking for the van at home.
Join a genuine family business
This isn't a large national operation. You will become part of a small, close-knit team where the owners are actively involved and good people can make a visible difference.
Be part of the company's growth
Lawn Tiger has ambitious but clear plans to grow its customer base and fleet, creating opportunities for development and increased responsibility as the business expands.
Quality over shortcuts
The company has built its reputation by caring about the quality of its work and treating customers properly. If you take pride in your standards and believe in doing the right thing, you should fit in well.
